No commentsGrand theft auto IV ripped and torrented

Just like Halo 3 Grand theft auto IV has been ripped and distributed for free on torrent trackers and rapidshare. Since yesterday grand theft auto 4 PAL version released by iCON was seen and a couple of hours ago the group 101 has released a NTSC version for Americans and Candians. There is no speculation on when the PS3 version of grand theft auto will be released. We’ll keep you posted though.
2 commentsFirefox 3 Bookmarks Make Everything Easier!

Firefox 3 is coming out with a new way of bookmarking!
See that star right there? Well, if you click it, it becomes bookmarked!
If it’s hollow (like example), then it has yet to be bookmarked. If it’s solid, then that link has already been bookmarked and you can check it out in the bookmarks folder.
If you click it when it’s solid, you can edit it. You can change the title, the folder and the tags. You can also create new folders and remove the bookmark.
With tags, you can search for whichever tags you want and multiple items will pop up.
I cannot wait for Firefox 3 to finally come out!

No commentsVirtual Console = Roms?
It turns out that Virtual Console games are actually just Roms (playable on emulators on the PC too) with HTML files. The Rom files are the game and the HTML files seems like they are just the instruction screens.
So if this is true, what this basically tells me is that people are paying money for something they could easily download online and play using an emulator?
I’m not linking anywhere or saying people should download the Roms instead of paying, but I’m just saying it’s another option.
I actually have not purchased virtual console games because I own the old games with the systems, but I think people should reward Nintendo for their work, instead of just download the Roms.
But that’s just my opinion. You can do whatever floats your boat.
As for my opinion on this issue, this seems a little…I’m not sure. I don’t think Nintendo should go about it this way, but it is much less expensive this way. However, maybe they should’ve added in something else other than just Rom and HTML files.

No commentsVirgin Media Against Net Neutrality

Neil Berkett, CEO of Virgin Media, attacked net neutrality. He even went so far as to call the whole idea and principle of Net Neutrality “bollocks.”
He reveals that Virgin is already set out and talked to some companies about getting more money to make their sites load quicker. Berkett claims that all of the others who do not pay will be stuck, in what he calls, “Bus Lanes.” Basically, a drastically reduced speed than the others who pay.
I don’t live in the UK, but somebody should stop this guy from blocking net neutrality, otherwise, it might happen over here in the States as well.

No commentsVista on the Brink?

Yesterday, analysts, Michael Silver and Neil MacDonald, held a conference stating that if Microsoft doesn’t make drastic changes to Windows Vista, then it will collapse without a doubt.
They brought up the interesting point of businesses are not upgrading (or downgrading to me) to Vista. Only a mere 6% of places do. This is mostly because of the need to have a high-end computer to make it work.
For early people, Vista is just making things a lot harder to do with their browser. People no longer need to open that tedious Microsoft Office when the internet is breeding Google Docs.
Microsoft gains around $15 billion for Windows alone and $16 billion for all the software (not to mention bloatware).
The two analysts say:
The real question isn’t “What can Microsoft do to fix their Windows product?” but rather “Even If Windows and Office were perfect, would it be enough to keep Microsoft relevant in the medium term?” I think the answer to that latter question might be “nope.”
The only way for Microsoft to survive is this: to make that deal with Yahoo.

No commentsEbays way or the Highway for Australia

Showing Australians who’s boss, You WILL use PayPal and ONLY PayPal,’ it’s ordering them.
PayPal is, of course, owned by eBay.
“Once again the average person is screwed by a greedy giant that we helped create,” says littleripper22 on the Australia forums.
“It’s looking like if you won’t be be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, and briefed, then ebay is not an option,” says j*oono.
However, whether customers like it or not, Australian direct deposits, personal cheques and money orders will no longer be payment options from June 17, says Australian IT, observing:
“This is the first time these restrictions will be imposed by eBay anywhere in the world and could be enforced in other markets in the future.”
Buyers will have to pay for items via PayPal, cash-on-delivery or Visa and MasterCard debit and credit cards, “but these transactions would be processed by PayPal as well,” says the story.
PayPal takes direct deposit or credit card payments on behalf of eBay sellers for between 1.1 and 2.4%.
eBay, “defended the change, saying buyers were more likely to have problems with ‘offline’ payment options such as direct deposit,” says the Sydney Morning Herald.
eBay trust and safety director Alastair MacGibbon, “acknowledged that some buyers would be upset by the change, but believed most would benefit from the increased level of security,” says the story.
“Some people will take some time to accept the change,” it has him stating, adding:
“EBay will make every effort to educate people about why this is for their safety and why it will increase confidence in shopping on eBay.”
Corporate entertainment cartel customer education includes suing people until they see the light.

2 commentsMyspace Apps are IN!

Please say it ain’t so Lord.
I have the (rather unfortunate) pleasure of telling you all that Myspace now has app(lication)s. Basically, a huge rip off of Facebook if you ask me. There are currently a lot of categories listed under apps you can get. There’s football stuff, tech stuff etc. Over 41 pages of the stuff. Some of them are huge rips like the AudioScrobbler from Last.FM does exactly the same thing it does on Facebook.
Among these other apps are things like “Rate My Music”, “Rate My Pic”, “What would you want to do with me?” etc. Quite frankly, most of these apps are beyond stupid and just completely pointless. The AudioScrobbler one may be useful to some, but not to many others. The “Rate My…” apps are, in my opinion, lame. Go to Facebook if you want that.
If apps are your thing, then this must be heaven to you. If you’re like me, then it’s a living hell. I think it may become a living hell because Facebook apps have this nasty tendency to e-mail me every single time somebody invites me to do an app with them, such as becoming a vampire etc. You’ve all heard it in the podcasts. If I get invites and I can’t turn it off, I may just leave Myspace too. Please don’t let that happen Myspace!
Start adding all the apps!
