Firefox 3 Up For Download!

Firefox 3!
Help break a world record! Download Firefox 3! DOWNLOAD!!

It will probably be down (as it has for me and a lot of others on Digg), but I was able to get through after a while. There are so many people downloading it right now, it’s awesome.

However, the download link used to be for version 2.0.0.14, but that’s been fixed to 3.0.
If you can’t get to the exact download links, here they are (for English anyway):
For Windows:
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&=en-US

For Mac:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.0&os=osx&=en-US

For Linux:
http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-3.0&os=linux&=en-US

Torrent:
http://isohunt.com/download/45839286/firefox.torrent

If you’re having trouble getting those, you could download them from FileHippo, however, it won’t count towards the world record. Unless you need it RIGHT NOW, I’d wait, just to help Mozilla reach a world record.

Crazy things have been going on for Firefox 3 right now, and I must say, it feels amazing to be apart of it. Let’s beat that record!

The Velociraptor-WD’s new monster

uber-drive

Western Digital really outdid themselves with this harddrive/heatsink, aptly named the velociraptor. You’d name it somethin spiffy too if it out-performed enterprise grade solid state hard drives…

“Western Digital has announced the Velociraptor ($300 retail), their latest and greatest in speedy storage. Connecting through 3GB/s SATA, the 300GB, 10,000RPM Velociraptor is actually a 2.5″ hard drive with a massive “Icepack” heatsink that makes it large enough to fit in a 3.5″ bay. Maximum PC already got their hands on a preproduction unit. So how fast was it? Real fast.

In fact, the Velociraptor bested the competition (Western Digital’s old Raptor and the Samsung HD103UJ) in every test they threw at it. Plus it worked great in a RAID setup as well.

So then Maximum PC decided to pull out an SSD to see what the Velociraptor could really do. Of course, the $300 Velociraptor was thwarted by the more affluent $1,950 Mtron Pro-series 64-gigabyte SSD.

Still, in terms of bang for your buck, you aren’t going to do any better than Western Digital’s new chosen one. And besides, it’s just a matter of time before someone rips off that heatsink and fits this 2.5″ monster into a laptop.”

Nintendo Cracking Down on Hitler Miis

So you wanna use your awesome and unoriginal Hitler name in a game do you? Well, sad to say, Nintendo is cracking down on this.

That’s right. No longer can you use the name “Hitler” online. If you do, you get this message:

You cannot use this Mii name over Nintendo WFC. Please reconnect after changing your Mii name.

Awww, bye bye little Hitlers!

How-To: Firefox Smart Keywords

So what exactly is a smart keyword? A smart keyword is a keyword that, when typed in the location bar, will open up a site for that keyword.

For example, let’s say you have a bookmark and it links to DCTF (Don’t Copy That Floppy). If you put “DCTF” in a keyword for that bookmark, then if you type in DCTF in the location bar, you’ll get to this site! Cool huh?

Another useful tactic for this is for searches. For instance, let’s say you wanted to be able to search DCTF. Instead of tediously typing it in the box over there each time, you could do the following:

  1. Right-click the search box and click “Add a Keyword for this search…”
  2. Put whatever name and keyword you want in. For the sake of this article, let’s say you typed in DCTF for each box.
  3. Now let’s say you’re looking for MGS4 goodies. Type in the location bar: “DCTF MGS4″
  4. You should get search results for MGS4!

Productive huh?

3G iPhone May Come in Silver, Black and White?

Although this is just a rumor, it seems that the iPhone may come in these colors for the 32 GB version.

The 16GB model will only come in silver though.

Instead of offering a fixed rate tariff with bundled call times, the network will charge iPhone users 40 Swiss Francs per month, in addition, users will pat 45 centimes per hour of use when calling other Swisscom mobiles or fixed lines; while calls to other mobile networks will set the Swiss back 45 centimes per minute. SMS messages will cost 20 centimes each, while data transfers will cost 50 centimes per megabyte.
